East Window and the Reredos

The Altar

Arranged by members of Hartley and District Flower Club

display on the right hand side of the altar

Shuttered window in the south wall of the Chancel

A handbell may have been rung out of this window at the time of the elevation of the host before bells had been installed in the turret at the west end. Such windows also made it possible for people with conditions such as leprosy to see the altar and to receive the sacrament without entering the church.

Arranged by Anne Senneck Sponsor: Gill Pearson

The East Window and the Reredos

The east window was filled in 1898 with stained glass presented by the P&O Company in memory of Adam Tait of Hartley Court. It was restored and re-ordered in 1987. The Revd W W Allen carved the oak reredos [1882] which is below the window.
