 Mediaeval Maid Maids like this would have worshipped here in the early years of the church’s existence. The chancel arch was rebuilt and the two large windows were introduced into the walls of the nave about 1300 AD.   Font and Stewardstone The font was made in the 14th Century and moved to its present location in 1974. The pedestal below is Norman work of Purbeck marble. The Stewardstone, on which the font used to stand, bears an inscription in Lombardic capitals from about 1200 AD.
