The office of churchwarden is a venerable one,
and had legal status as far back as the 1200s. The parish has two churchwardens
who are technically officers of the Bishop.
|
| The churchwardens are
chosen annually at the annual parish meeting which is normally held
shortly before Easter. In our parish, once a churchwarden has been
selected, they normally serve for a period of five years. |
| They have three main
areas of responsibility: management, maintenance and ministry which they
fulfil in partnership with the Rector and the PCC: |
| Management:
|
The running
of the parish and the co-ordination of its activities, people and resources
and finances. |
| Maintenance:
|
Caring for
the property of the parish, its buildings and their contents, the churchyards;
and keeping registers. |
| Ministry:
|
Ensuring
the orderly conduct of worship, and caring for the congregation and the
Rector |
| Our
two churchwardens are: |
