We are now entering this short period of ‘Ordinary Time’ before Lent. The last two Sundays in this period have specific themes: - the Second Sunday before Lent is effectively “Creation Sunday” and the Bible readings focus on the wonder of creation. The Sunday before Lent is “Transfiguration Sunday” and we dwell on this pivotal moment in Jesus’ life between his ministry in Galilee and his final journey to Jerusalem.

Our minds now begin to move from the crib to the cross, and shortly we will be entering the Holy season of Lent. We will be using during Lent, Tearfund’s (one of the charities we support) strapline of “Reflect, Pray and Act”, and throughout Lent we intend to provide many opportunities to achieve this and to deepen our spiritual lives.

For details of our Lent groups (which all are welcome to join), prayer meetings and ‘Quiet days’ being led by Bishop James please click on our Parish Notes section. Lent begins on February 22nd – for services on Ash Wednesday and others during Lent please click on our Services section.

God's blessing on you all

Jim Fletcher
