Portrait of Revd. Jim Fletcher

My name is Jim Fletcher and as the Rector of the Parish of Fawkham and Hartley I would like to welcome you to our parish and to our web site.

As you browse the site you will find many pages of helpful information about parish life in Fawkham & Hartley.

If you are new to our Parish, or would like information on our services, can I suggest that you click here for our Welcome! page.

If you are interested in the history of our 2 lovely churches pictured here with our Church Centre, then click on History on the side menu. Please explore our site and don't forget, we'd love you to come and enjoy one of our services, or parish events.

We are now in the season of Advent – a time of spiritual preparation as we begin to look ahead to Christmas.  It is a time for penitence, humility and reflection but also one of joyful expectation where we await the birth of Jesus.

Advent gives us the opportunity to spend time in prayer and often we may like to do some spiritual reading.  Just a reminder we have a lending library at The Church Centre in Hartley for your use.  There are still spaces on our Advent groups as well – please see ‘parish notes’ for more details.

For more information of the ‘Sundays in Advent’ please click on this link.  Do also have a look at our ‘Services’ link to see the different amounts of services happening during this period.

As you think of gifts for Christmas, can I encourage those who have not yet done so, to buy a Banni Gift for a friend or relative. A different gift for this year, maybe bricks, a window, a door or materials for the roof. All to build a new classroom for the Banni Basic School in the Gambia. See below for further details.

Finally, the latest newsletter is now out, if you click on the banner below, you can download a pdf version.

I look forward to seeing you at many of them in this build up to Christmas.  And please read our ‘parish notes’ link to see what else is happening in the parish at this time.  I hope and pray this will be a holy and reflective time for you as we prepare for what is at the centre of Christmas.

God's blessing on you all

Jim Fletcher
